Welcome

Dear Parents,

As we have reached the end of the half-term, I wanted to write and say how much I am enjoying my time here at your school. The staff have worked incredibly hard and are a real asset to the school; the children continue to be delightful, polite and motivated learners; the Governors have a keen interest in the future of the school and have been supporting the new Head in his transition to Kildwick; the PTA have been instrumental in forging positive links between the school and parents and have given up their free time in abundance. There is a good feeling about the place and I’m looking forward to the next half-term, with sports day, performances and meeting our new Reception children.

Here is a flavour of things we have done together: held performance management meetings; implemented new assessment tracking software; created a new end of year report to parents format; established a senior leadership team; had a successful EYFS assessment moderation visit; improved before/after school entrance security; made plans to improve the EYFS outdoor space (you will notice some of these changes immediately after the half-term break); created an email account to improve links between parents and EYFS; prepared for the Y5/6 residential; relaunched the PTA; completed the KS1 and KS2 SATS; appointed a school council, who in turn helped appoint the KS2 teacher; had several Governor visits to school; hosted Collective Worship in school led by Rev Figg; entered and won several sporting tournaments; Y6 have had Bikeability; made links with other primary schools through staff training; held parent consultation evenings; appointed a new KS2 teacher; appeared in the newspaper several times; held a cinema night, a disco, a bun sale for the Children’s Heart Surgery Fund, a Tea Party for the Queen and hosted a Big Breakfast for Christian Aid! The staff have been incredible to work alongside and deserve a well-earned break!

Have a great half-term break everyone. See you on the Tuesday 7th June.
