Welcome

Dear Parents,

I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome you all back to school and to the start of this academic year. I trust you have all had some time to rest and relax. For some it is the start of your journey with us and for some it will be the final year before you move onto pastures new.

It is also the start of a new chapter for me as I begin my Headship here at Kildwick. I am looking forward immensely to working with all members of the school community and beyond as we look to the future, forging strong partnerships with parents and the wider community.

We also welcome three further members of staff to school. Mrs Ruth Sharples who will be teaching in Class 3, Mrs Ygern Roberts (who many will already know as a parent) who will be working in Class 1 and Mrs Sandra Chapman who is the new Administrator. If you would like to say hello to her or have information to pass to her then please come up to her office at the top of the stairs. She has had a very busy, if not overwhelming week, as she gets used to the school’s systems and practices. I will try to persuade her to come and say hello in person next week. :)

We wish them all well as they settle into school.

School Aims / Vision – All staff and governors spent a very productive morning on Monday, working on our aims and vision. We are in the process of consulting the children about their views and we would also like your opinion before we put a draft version together. One thing that emerged is that we would like to be outward looking, not only working in partnership with other schools but also using our skills and resources to help those less fortunate than ourselves.  You will shortly be receiving a questionnaire and I would greatly appreciate your contribution.

I also plan to upgrade the school website, add a Facebook page and also create a school blog where children’s learning in and out of school can be showcased.

It’s been a productive first week and I’m really excited about what the future holds for Kildwick School. We will all sleep well on Friday. Have a great weekend!

Tim Whitehead
